NOTD: Revlon Grape Icy (scented)

This is from Relvon's summer collection of scented colors. Grape Icy smells like a cherry icy to me, and its lasted over 3 days. Its an electric purple with a violet flash and pink and blue sparkles. I'm not a purple person but I love this color. Its 4 coats, but it was so easy and smooth to apply that I don't even care. It also wears quite well, after 3 days there is a tiny bit of tip wear but no chips. The first photo is the most color accurate.

NOTD: Milani Cyberspace

Another great Milani holo. Cyberspace is a bit more sheer than the other colors I have, this was 4 coats and it could have used another. The first photo is with the flash. The 2nd photo is in indoor light and its actually a brighter blue, not so pale silvery. In the sunlight it gets even brighter with a rainbow of holographic fine glitter.

NOTD: Milani Rad Purple + Pure Ice Heart Breaker

This combination of dark purple with turquoise sparkles is so cool. Unfortunately I didn't think of it myself, but that didn't stop me from shamelessly running out to buy Rad Purple this morning so I could copy it ($3.99 at Target). Of course Heart Breaker from Walmart can make almost any color amazing and costs just $2.00. If you don't already have it get it along with Oh Baby and Busted.

This is 4 coats of Rad Purple and 1 coat of Heart Breaker, pics taken in direct sunlight.

Some Misa swatches

All but First Kiss were just 2 coats. First Kiss is a shimmer, the rest are bright neons. These are very pigmented and apply quite well. I got them from head2toe.com for $3.00 each.

First Kiss

Lather, Rinse, Repeat, a bit less cool then this photo appears. Its light pink with a tiny bit of peach.

Sandles, Flip Flops, & Hip Hop, also a bit warmer then the photo shows, it almost has a touch of coral.

Bikini With A Martini, a bit brighter/more neon in person

NOTD & some important food for thought.

First a little information I've recently learned about the environment.

I recently had to do a presentation on the effects of pollution on wildlife and learned that there is a floating trash heap in the pacific ocean 2x bigger than Texas (the other oceans have this too). Its killing marine animals, giving whales breast cancer, and poisoning our planet. Most of that trash is plastic from water bottles and trash bags and will take 1000+ years to degrade.

I know a lot of us will go to the drug store for just a few bottles of np, and I'd like to challenge everyone to not accept plastic bags when just getting a few small items. Just say "I don't need a bag" and put it in your purse (after you've payed for it =P ). Even if you don't live anywhere near a coast, that bag could end up in a stream that goes to a river that empties into an ocean 500 miles away, or it could end up in a local pond/lake/whatever.

Now on to my NOTD: I am wearing 3 coats Sinful Colors I Love You and 2 coats LA Splash's Sparkling Lavendar. The sunlight photos are not color accurate but show the sparkle. I Love You is similar to Daddy's Girl, but the base is lighter and it has a lot more gold and purple flecks (like tiny tiny flakies). Daddy's Girl just has gold flecks that are a little bit bigger.

Hidden Treasure Swatches

I got my greedy hands on Hidden Treasure this morning, which is from Sally Hansen's newest summer collection. Its a clear base with flakes that shift to green, yellow, and orange. Its said to be very similar to GOSH's flakie and Nfu Ohs 38. I know everyone will be swatching it over black so I chose some different colors. You have to get this one.

NOTD: Glitter gradient with ChG Sexy In The City + LA Splash Oceanspray

This pretty much makes me want to cry and wish I was on a tropical beach.

My camera totally made this look blue so I fixed it in photoshop as much as I could but its still not 100% color accurate, it is very close though. In person the base is a medium teal and all the glitter is light seafoam green.

Late Earth Day NOTD:Blue franken + Nfu Oh 54

I made a blue franken last night with ChG Shower Together & Bermuda Breakaway, its similar to MAC's Blue India (I think). I layered two coats of Nfu Oh 54 over it. I love this combo because it looks like a watery planet with grassy islands all over, like Earth. The blue is a little bit more teal and dusty in person, and the flakes are kelly green in most lights.

Speaking of Earth, if you care at all about dolphins sign this petition on facebook, from the people that filmed The Cove, to stop the slaughter of 23,000 dolphins each year in Japan. And if you haven't seen The Cove please watch it (or at least the last 20 minutes) it will change your life.

NOTD: Lilacism & Nfu Oh 50

These Nfu Oh flakies kill me, they are so gorgeous. This is 3-4 coats of Essie's Lilacism, which has a really watery formula that is a pain to apply, and Nfu Oh's #50 which applied quite nicely. I love that the flakes change from green, blue, and purple. Unfortunately I could only capture the blue on camera. The first two photos are taken in natural indoor lighting, and second two are taken in the sunlight.

NOTD: Essence VIP Appeal + Nfu Oh #49

Oh baby, this mani is so gorgeous. I'm wearing 3 coats of Essence VIP Appeal and 2 coats of Nfu Oh 49. It is even more amazing in person. The actual color is probably closest to the last photo, which was taken outside in direct sunlight (it was such a beautiful day today). Its a kind of soft, warm pink coral. It feels cozy, like the beginning of a sunset on a warm beach when everything is pink, orange, and gold. By the way, all Nfu Oh nail polish is 10-30% off at http://www.fabuloustreet.com/ all the way through April I think.

NOTD: China Glaze 2NITE

First off I would like to thank everyone for all the support so many of you have given me after the death of my dog. I miss her all the time, I can't believe she's gone. I guess life has to go on though. I have a lot of things coming up soon, assuming that I'm not swamped by work tomorrow. I have some pale lavender comparisons, Nfu Oh swatches, Jordana swatches, Misa swatches, and more.

On to 2NITE. This is such a lovely color. In natural lighting its a pale smoky blue which is still gorgeous even without the holo effect. In any type of artificial light it really pops like in the flash photo. In the sunlight the different colors are more pronounced than the last two photos show, its a lot more holo. There is also more green and yellow then the photos show.

My only complaint is that application was a bit pain over my base coat which was Orly's Nail Armor. I had major cuticle drag (when you get a bare spot above the cuticle) on the first 2 coats (the 3rd coat came out fine though). On my bare nail though I didn't have the problem with cuticle drag. I actually put this on Saturday, its now Wednseday and there is almost zero tipwear and no chipping.

Comparison: ChG Emerald Sparkle vs NYX Las Vegas

These colors are pretty much both to die for. Both are dark green with some form of green sparkles or glitter. In the case of Emerald Sparkle it has larger, more dense glitter, and the base color is more opaque then LV. Las Vegas has small sparkles that are much more subtle, but still very eye catching, and has a jelly base. I prefer Las Vegas a bit more but you can't go wrong either way.

NOTD: Layered LA Splash glitters

This is such a fun mani, its so blingy. The light pink and the fushia set off each other very well. Its a little bit darker and more fushia in person.

2 coats WnW Through The Grapevine (in the small round bottles)
1 coat LA Splash Sparkling Lilac
