NOTD: WnW's Blue Moon

Blue Moon is a new core color from Wet N Wild. This is 3 coats, this is a dark navy with aqua shimmer, which unfortunately stands out more in the bottle than on the nail. Its still pretty though.

The only thing I don't like about this formula is that it dries too fast. By the time I finish one side of my nail the brush is too dry to do the other and its very easy to smudge because it doesn't stay wet long enough to fix any bubbles or whatever. Other than that the brush is great and I think this was one of the neatest mani's I've done, there wasn't much clean up to do.

Also I finally got a Twitter, there is a link in the sidebar or check me out here http://twitter.com/KatrinaAlice.

Franken: Scuba Diver

I'm on a roll with the frankening lately. This one did not turn out as holographic as I wanted, but I have 1 oz of loose holographic glitter on its way to me so I am going to add that and see if I can get it to be how I want it.

I used:

equal parts Color Club 220 Volts & Bizerk Turq for about 1/4 of the bottle
1/4 NYX Titanic
1/2 CC Worth The Risque

Franken: Midnight Sky

This was an attempt to dupe another color but it didn't go so well. I was disappointed but I've just decided to take it for what it is. The color is a darker navy, its not quite as bright as the photos show.

I used:
1/5 Dorothy Who
2/5 Easel-y Entertained
2/5 Bermuda Breakaway

NOTD: Orly Royal Navy

Royal Navy is soooooo stunning! I have 3 other blues that a similar that I don't like, but I love this one. I think its a color that I will want to wear a lot. Its a dark royal blue jelly with green/aqua shimmer. This is 3 coats and there is a little bit of VNL but not enough to bother me. It also applied very evenly and seemed to dry quickly. The first photo here is the most acurate, being taken in natural indoor lighting, but its a tiny bit darker and the shimmer stands out more than I could show in any of the photos. The 2nd photo is taking in my magical bathroom lighting and the 3rd was taken in direct sunlight.

NOTD: LA Girl Funkadelic + SH Spectrum

For this NOTD I am wearing 2 coats of LA Girls Funkadelic from their Disco collection, which I've found at 2 small clothing stores and cherryculture.com, and 1 coat of Sally Hansen's Spectrum from their new HD collection. Spectrum has a turquoise base with tons of blue sparkles and a little bit of pink sparkles which the second picture sort of shows. I really want more of the HD collection, but I have to wait until they are on sale since they run $5-6 at the drugstore.

NOTD: Milani Cyberspace

Another great Milani holo. Cyberspace is a bit more sheer than the other colors I have, this was 4 coats and it could have used another. The first photo is with the flash. The 2nd photo is in indoor light and its actually a brighter blue, not so pale silvery. In the sunlight it gets even brighter with a rainbow of holographic fine glitter.

Late Earth Day NOTD:Blue franken + Nfu Oh 54

I made a blue franken last night with ChG Shower Together & Bermuda Breakaway, its similar to MAC's Blue India (I think). I layered two coats of Nfu Oh 54 over it. I love this combo because it looks like a watery planet with grassy islands all over, like Earth. The blue is a little bit more teal and dusty in person, and the flakes are kelly green in most lights.

Speaking of Earth, if you care at all about dolphins sign this petition on facebook, from the people that filmed The Cove, to stop the slaughter of 23,000 dolphins each year in Japan. And if you haven't seen The Cove please watch it (or at least the last 20 minutes) it will change your life.

NOTD: China Glaze 2NITE

First off I would like to thank everyone for all the support so many of you have given me after the death of my dog. I miss her all the time, I can't believe she's gone. I guess life has to go on though. I have a lot of things coming up soon, assuming that I'm not swamped by work tomorrow. I have some pale lavender comparisons, Nfu Oh swatches, Jordana swatches, Misa swatches, and more.

On to 2NITE. This is such a lovely color. In natural lighting its a pale smoky blue which is still gorgeous even without the holo effect. In any type of artificial light it really pops like in the flash photo. In the sunlight the different colors are more pronounced than the last two photos show, its a lot more holo. There is also more green and yellow then the photos show.

My only complaint is that application was a bit pain over my base coat which was Orly's Nail Armor. I had major cuticle drag (when you get a bare spot above the cuticle) on the first 2 coats (the 3rd coat came out fine though). On my bare nail though I didn't have the problem with cuticle drag. I actually put this on Saturday, its now Wednseday and there is almost zero tipwear and no chipping.

NOTD: Dorothy Who?

I finally tried the much raved about Dorothy Who? from the China Glaze Wizard Of Ooh Ahz collection. This collection originally came out years ago and apparently enough people begged for it to come back because China Glazed re-released it a few months ago. Dorothy Who? is a blue jelly with silver and blue glitter. Its a pretty good formula, kind of sheer but thats to be expected with jellies. This is 3 coats hear but I think it would have looked better with a 4th and probably another layer of top coat. I did this at 7:30 am before school so I didn't have much time to do extra steps but its still a great color.

Dorothy Who is somewhat similar to Blue Sparrow, but Blue Sparrow does not have silver glitter, and its blue glitter almost isn't reflective at all. I like Dorothy Who better because its blingy and exciting, but Blue Sparrow is still a nice color to have.

NOTD: Nfu Oh #56

For this NOTD I used 3 coats of China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway and 1 coat of Nfu Oh #56 (you can get this at http://www.fabuloustreet.com/).

This combo reminds me of a bunch of islands in the middle of a dark ocean. Like looking at Earth from space. The green is much more prominent in person, and the blue is a bit darker. This really makes me want to try out more Nfu Oh's, I just wish they weren't $12 a piece.

NOTD: China Glaze Meteor Shower

I got this last night along with a bunch of other gorgeous colors that you'll see here soon enough. I had heard that China Glaze's Meteor Shower was hard to apply so I added some of Sally Beauty's np thinner before using it and it went on quite well. The first coat was a little blotchy but the second made it totally opaque and that was all I needed. Meteor Shower is a dark blue-black with blue, green, and orange glitter. It does dry quite bumpy, even with 2 top coats, but I think that goes with the character and name of the polish.

NOTD: Teal Treasure

This mani was amazing. I use Sinful Colors Whats That and Nail Junkie (this one is at Walgreens), two coats of each. Whats That is harder to find but you could use China Glaze's Sexy In The City, Sally Hansen's Fairy Teal, or any other shimmery teal with Nail Junkie.
