NOTD: Passionate Purple + Hidden Treasure

I've been wanting to wear Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure over a purple since I first started seeing photos of it. This combination is amazing, its 2 coats of Finger Paint's Passionate Purple and 1 coat of Hidden Treasure. When the flakes are red its kind of sassy/sexy and when they are green it makes me want to cackle like a witch on Halloween. All sorts of fun is to be had with Hidden Treasure. Like the name suggest its rather hard to find and LE, but there are at least three other dupes, from Nubar (2010), Nfu Oh (fabuloustreet.com, #38), and GOSH (Rainbow) for the Canada/UK ladies. Hidden Treasure has mostly been found at Walgreens and Walmart for those who want to try to track it down.

Hidden Treasure Swatches

I got my greedy hands on Hidden Treasure this morning, which is from Sally Hansen's newest summer collection. Its a clear base with flakes that shift to green, yellow, and orange. Its said to be very similar to GOSH's flakie and Nfu Ohs 38. I know everyone will be swatching it over black so I chose some different colors. You have to get this one.

Late Earth Day NOTD:Blue franken + Nfu Oh 54

I made a blue franken last night with ChG Shower Together & Bermuda Breakaway, its similar to MAC's Blue India (I think). I layered two coats of Nfu Oh 54 over it. I love this combo because it looks like a watery planet with grassy islands all over, like Earth. The blue is a little bit more teal and dusty in person, and the flakes are kelly green in most lights.

Speaking of Earth, if you care at all about dolphins sign this petition on facebook, from the people that filmed The Cove, to stop the slaughter of 23,000 dolphins each year in Japan. And if you haven't seen The Cove please watch it (or at least the last 20 minutes) it will change your life.

NOTD: Lilacism & Nfu Oh 50

These Nfu Oh flakies kill me, they are so gorgeous. This is 3-4 coats of Essie's Lilacism, which has a really watery formula that is a pain to apply, and Nfu Oh's #50 which applied quite nicely. I love that the flakes change from green, blue, and purple. Unfortunately I could only capture the blue on camera. The first two photos are taken in natural indoor lighting, and second two are taken in the sunlight.

NOTD: Essence VIP Appeal + Nfu Oh #49

Oh baby, this mani is so gorgeous. I'm wearing 3 coats of Essence VIP Appeal and 2 coats of Nfu Oh 49. It is even more amazing in person. The actual color is probably closest to the last photo, which was taken outside in direct sunlight (it was such a beautiful day today). Its a kind of soft, warm pink coral. It feels cozy, like the beginning of a sunset on a warm beach when everything is pink, orange, and gold. By the way, all Nfu Oh nail polish is 10-30% off at http://www.fabuloustreet.com/ all the way through April I think.

Green Sinful Color swatches & a flakie comparison.

So many people are wearing green this month (for St Patricks day) and I don't have a lot of greens so I had to go get some so I could fit it. I got these 4 colors from Walgreens. Irish Green and Green Ocean are limited edition colors that Walgreens brings out each March for St Patties, so get them while you can. You can also get Sinful Colors nail polish at Cherryculture.com.

Mint Apple, 3 coats. Dustly pale grey-green with gold shimmer.

Rise and Shine, 2-3 coats. Kelly green with subtle blue shimmer.

Irish Green, 5 coats. Neon burnyoureyes kelly-lime green. You can layer it over white to make it fully opaque.

These are the flakies I have. Here you can see that the NYX flakes are huge and there aren't enough of them so it looks awful. The Nfu Oh's are perfect of course. The Sinful Colors is somewhere in between with nice sized flakes but there isn't any shimmer to fill the in spaces like the Nfu Oh's, and most are a little too square.

NOTD: Nfu Oh #56

For this NOTD I used 3 coats of China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway and 1 coat of Nfu Oh #56 (you can get this at http://www.fabuloustreet.com/).

This combo reminds me of a bunch of islands in the middle of a dark ocean. Like looking at Earth from space. The green is much more prominent in person, and the blue is a bit darker. This really makes me want to try out more Nfu Oh's, I just wish they weren't $12 a piece.

NOTD: Solar Lava

I dug out some of my older polishes and found Revlon's Solar, which I got a few years ago at the Dollar Tree. I also got two Nfu Oh polishes from http://www.fabuloustreet.com/ and used #51 (Nfu Oh has numbers instead of names) over Solar. Nfu Oh polishes run at $12.50 which is usally way beyond what I will spend for anything cosmetic related but they have amazing flakie polishes which are hard to find in any other brand. This was a late birthday splurge for me.

Unfortunately I had quite a few problems, though some were my fault. The polish was very thick and hard to spread evenly. I added some thinner so hopefully that will help next time I use it. The green one, #56, seemed to be thinner when I opened it but I didn't swatch it yet so I'm not sure. It also did a lot of shrinking (when your polish comes away from the edges, so you can see the tips of your nails) very quickly, this is due to Seche Vite's quick dry top coat but some polishes work better with it then others. I will have to experiment some more to see if I can prevent this. I also melted it on the tip of one finger when I was cooking dinner, that was totally my fault. And finally on one nail the entire sheet of nail polish started to slip off for a reason I don't know. All in all this hasn't been a good mani day so I'm going to take it off and try something else.
